Shawnee State Fishing Lake is a man-made reservoir in northern Shawnee County (not to be confused with Lake Shawnee near Topeka). Water from the lake is impounded by a dam at its south end, and the outflow from the reservoir continues downstream from that dam. While specific named downstream creeks for Shawnee State Fishing Lake aren’t widely published in common lake descriptions, the lake lies within the Kansas River watershed’s Middle Kansas sub-basin, which generally drains toward the Kansas River via local tributaries of Little Soldier Creek and nearby small creeks.
