Description
Carrabelle River is short tidal river located in Carrabelle, Florida, and flows into St. George Sound in Apalachicola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The area has been a base for commercial fishermen. It is home to a river festival. It is crossed by the Carrabelle River Bridge on U.S. Route 98. Two major rivers merge to form the Carrabelle River: New River and Crooked River. These rivers join just north of Carrabelle, creating the main flow that reaches the Gulf. The Crooked River is a distributary of the Ochlockonee River. This means that the Carrabelle River system is connected to the Ochlockonee River through the Crooked River.
